It’s a sorrow moment to witness those innocent minds carrying firearms which will end as a terror in their life and others too. Asian Centre for Human Rights (ACHR) released a report on 8th May, 2013, “India’s Child Soldiers,” India’s first ever detailed research on the issue, blaming India’s government of protecting records of armed opposition groups, officially classified as terrorist organizations, on child soldiers recruitment before the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child. Regrettably, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh State Governments have recruited children under 18 years of age as “boy-orderlies”.
According to Peter Singer, an Australian moral philosopher Child soldiers are widely used in India and as many as seventeen militant factions use child soldiers in the Kashmir region. Over the years, hundreds of children under the age of 18 were recruited as “boy orderlies” in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, and the Chhattisgarh State Government on a complaint lodged by the Asian Center for Human Rights before the National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights in June 2011 acknowledged that there are actually approximately 300 “boy-orderlies” employed by the state police. This confession by the state government is only a single case of human right violation. There can be many such cases exploiting children and their rights. They are denied, the right to education and all the rights which a child should have. Being at the age to enjoy the pleasant moments in the life, they are forced to witness bloodshed, chaos and yelling. The hand which should hold on books are forced to wield weapons of destruction. This is not just a violation of Children’s Right but also molding a dark future. Their peaceful mind gets corrupted and disturbed while facing the war front.
Militants blindly follow and propagate their ideology which gives them no regret in placing a child in the war field. But, a government is the body where citizens have placed their hope, and believes that the organ works for the nation’s welfare. The defense wing gets morally weak when there is an innocent mind holding a weapon, standing in the war front and tampering his own future.
